day 1- success!

After stumbling upon this fantastic idea at approximately 12:37pm today and immediately launching into action, we have succeeded in making 3 glorious cakes- the first of many this year. We had a couple of difficulties in the kitchen with one member of our team forgetting to beat the flour + eggs before adding it to the rest of the mixture and with one of our cakes looking like jelly after it had been cooking for 60 minutes but ALAS: it all worked out in the end.
We are very much looking forward to what the rest of our baking experiences will bring.
3 down- 97 to go!!!

Feedback from the birthday girl

In my tummy right now is a VERY large piece of layered banana cake with caramel. I came home tonight to find this thing of delicious beauty posing in all its sumptuousness on my dining table. The Gilfedder family and Mahlab Bullen clan have devoured it. Sammy G is up to his third large piece. I am surprised he stopped there. Abe is up to slice number two. To Lucy and her fellow Babes in Aprons I salute you. You have a magnificent future as artists of the bakery. Adriana Zumbo has NOTHING on you lot. Thank you for such a delicious surprise. You rock. With love and thanks. The Birthday Girl.

Babes In Aprons

Today, is  a special day for everyone in the Bake A Cake Society.
For today is the day that we begin the experience of a life time.

While watching the inspirational movie of Julie and Julia, we were hit by an astronomical flash of brilliance and mental waves of genius. The ever so original idea to bake a cake each and every day of this new and wonderful year was first stumbled upon by Rayus Jayus who had in fact had NOT WATCHED THE MOVIE ! nor heard of it. When her idea had been expressed in a clearly excited and enthustiastic way  we were overjoyed and YES overwhelmed (!!!) to find we ALL had the similar idea to do this amazing project.
After a few elated phone calls to a couple of close relatives, friends and a few telemarketers we were inspired further to the point where we were ready to take action and begin our new and fresh misson of a blog!!
The Four Babes in Aprons are whipping out the old spatualas, greasing up the cake tins and are ready to rumble.

Let the Cake Baking Experience BEGIN!!!
